IHEDS running seminars for Teachers
The Institute of Humanities, Education, and Development Studies (IHEDS) will run two Art of School Leadership seminars for head teachers under its Teacher Enhancement Programmes. The Institute of Humanities Education and Development Studies (IHEDS) is a department in the university that involves itself in teaching humanities, and organizing education seminars and conferences in the field of education, and other areas of academic interest.
The humanities are taught as part of the undergraduate and professional programmes in the university. These humanities focus on areas in Business Ethics, Politics, Contemporary Social Issues, Development, Business Communication, Literature and Foreign Languages.

DIPLOMA COURSES
Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Management
The Postgraduate Diploma is well focused on the development of the person, leading to the skills needed for running schools and turning them into attractive learning environments.
Programme Objectives
- To give those already experienced in the field grounding in educational leadership and management skills and to empower them to meet the challenges of change in education.
- To prepare participants for positions of educational leadership and management.
- To give the Kenyan teacher the requisite human training to make them effective contributors to the moral fibre of the nation.
Programme Structure and Duration
The PGDEM curriculum is based on continuous assessment, examinations, work-based assignments and a research project. The programme shall run for one academic year divided into three semesters, which will be conducted at the University. Work-based assignments and the project will be undertaken by the students in their institutions.
The curriculum for the PGDEM consists of five (5) core (reflective and analytical) units, six (6) required (educational management) units, and one (1) elective unit. At the end of course work candidates will undertake a project equivalent to two (2) course units. More >>>
THE ANNUAL ETHICS CONFERENCE
An Ethics Conference on issues of national and international interest is organized annually by the Institute of Humanities, Education and Development Studies. The following conferences have been organized:

- 2004: The Role of Legal Ethics and Jurisprudence in Nation Building
- 2005: Politics and the Common Good
- 2006: Media and the Common Good
