The Information Technology Centre (ITC) is a Centre in the Faculty of Information Technology. The Centre offers short courses in Information Technology for both individuals and corporate clients under IT Skills Enhancement Programme (IT SEP).
The Centre also offers all IT support courses for departments within the University. These include Applied IT for Accountants (AITA) for School of Accountancy students (SOA), IT skills for School of Administration and Management (SAM) and Institute for Continuing Education (ICE).
The Centre is also charged with the responsibility of taking care of all computer labs and audiovisual equipment.
Between 1991 and 2005, ITC offered offered Diploma, Higher Diploma and Graduate Diploma Courses leading to the examinations of the Institute for the Management of Information Systems (IMIS)—formerly known as the Institute of Data Processing Management (IDPM).
The need for Information Technology (IT) training is becoming more evident. Many business organisations use computers to run their operations more efficiently. The possibilities of obtaining a better job are clearly enhanced if one has computer knowledge and experience. The IT courses are run on a full-time and part-time basis, and they provide hands-on experience in the use of microcomputers.
