The University's Quality Policy supports its mission of providing excellent all-round education in an atmosphere of freedom and responsibility through selecting capable students fairly, recruitment of competent staff, provision of an enabling teaching and learning atmosphere and continuous improvement of students and staff through open channels of communication.
The policy is implemented through the Quality Management System (QMS), a set of policies, and procedures required for planning and execution of business processes in an organization. QMS integrates the various internal processes within an organization. It also enables organizations to identify, measure, control and improve core business processes with the ultimate goal of improving business performance.
ISO 9001:2000 which gives the requirements for the QMS system at Strathmore is a globally accepted standard for providing assurance on the ability to satisfy quality requirements and to enhance customer satisfaction. The scope of the ISO 9001:2000 QMS certification is provision of higher education.
Strathmore University's Quality Management System was ISO 9001:2000 certified in January 2004. It was re-certified to ISO 9001:2000 in February 2007 and underwent a recertification assessment against ISO 9001:2008 in August 2009.
QMS enables the University to consistently provide products that meet customer expectations and applicable regulatory requirements, foster a culture of continual improvement, prevent and correct non-conformities.
