Strathmore University tries to live up to the original meaning of the word University: a unity in diversity. Hence the relevance of our motto: 'that all may be one' through the sharing of knowledge, the cultivation of virtue, and the service of persons.
This explains Strathmore's abiding interest in ethics and morals, as overseen by its chaplains. This interest is shown in the solemn attention paid to religious traditions, especially our own Catholic Christian tradition, but open to all the great religious traditions, with utmost respect for individual freedom and personal dignity.
Because of this openness, the Chapel is available to all, regardless of their creed, as a place of prayer. In addition, non-Christian students have a room which they use for prayer.
With full respect for academic freedom and the different religious traditions, the university chaplains also collaborate with the Institute of Humanities, Education and Development Studies in giving ethics classes to the students.
