Atletico de Madrid, Spanish 'La Liga' team

Atletico de Madrid, a Spanish premier league club signed an agreement with Strathmore Educational Trust's (SET) Informal Sector Business Institute (ISBI), on 24th of April 2011 in Madrid, Spain. In the agreement, the club will provide financial support for ISBI to construct sports facilities in a campus in Nairobi's Eastlands.

ISBI like the University is sponsored by SET. It was set up in 2002 and runs business courses in Eastlands. ISBI's facility will be called Eastlands College of Technology. The campus will have an: Industrial Maintenance Centre, Centre for Information Technology and Communication, a Business Centre, and sports facilities.

ISBI has been operating in rented premises in Eastlands Uhuru Estate since 2005. The aim of ISBI is to increase wealth levels (poverty reduction) in two ways: first, by creating jobs and supporting local industry with well-trained manpower; and secondly by providing business management skill for small and medium enterprises.

The brilliant project should pay a look to indoor games as well. Ping-pong (Table Tennis) be in the list so we can reveal Children's Talents in Eastlands and the stratmore sports Community.

Universities, Corporates, NGOs and other Institutions should emulate such initiatives. These are the bodies which can genuinely improve the lives of Kenyans and (most ironically) serve as a model for our politicians, in empowering Kenyans and improving their well being.
