Strathmore's 50th Anniversary

On 6th March 1961,  Strathmore  College admitted its first students. It was then an Advanced- Level Sixth Form College offering Science and Arts subjects in Lavington, Nairobi.  Its foundation was inspired and encouraged by St. Josemaría Escrivá, founder of Opus Dei and was executed by a group of professionals, who formed the Strathmore Educational Registered Trust.   The new college would admit students from all races despite the racial segregation that prevailed in Kenya at the difficult pre-independence period.

Fifty years later, Strathmore College has grown to Strathmore University and Strathmore School and stands as a nationally recognized institution of learning known for its high standards of delivery and quality of service.
